Litigation Attorney - Indianapolis

Position Summary

The attorney represents our clients in court proceedings. The attorney also preps and files lawsuits for us, while working in a team setting with the rest of our legal team. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and motions related to debt collection
• Negotiate settlements and payment plans with consumers and/or their legal representatives
• File lawsuits against consumers and handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery and appeals
• Draft and review legal documents, including demand letters, complaints, motions, and settlement agreements
• Enforce judgments through garnishments, liens, and asset seizures
• Work with paralegals and legal assistants to follow up on documentation for court
• Travel to and from court

Required Qualifications

• Member of BAR Association/Law degree
• 1 year experience working on legal cases
• 2 years’ experience debt collection, litigation, or creditor’s rights
• Computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with small claims court system in Indiana
• Experience with Odyssey filing system

Additional Information

• Base Salary: Minimum of $90,000 per year. Higher salary available for candidates with extensive, directly relevant experience
• Schedule: Full-time
• Location: 8085 Knue Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with travel to & from court location
• Background check: As a condition of employment, a pre-employment background check will be conducted
