Role Description The Surgical Account Manager – University of Iowa is a full-time, on-site role based in Iowa City, IA, supporting surgical product sales and account management activities. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with surgeons, clinical staff, and hospital administrators, focusing on education, product adoption, and long-term partnership. Daily activities include meeting with key stakeholders, providing product demonstrations and in-service training, coordinating trials and evaluations of surgical solutions, and ensuring timely follow-up on clinical and business needs. The Surgical Account Manager will monitor account performance, analyze sales data, and develop strategies to grow market share while aligning with Medtronic’s ethical and compliance standards. The role also requires collaboration with internal teams, attending relevant surgical procedures as appropriate, and staying informed on clinical trends and competitive products.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in medical device or healthcare sales, preferably in the surgical or operating room environment.
- Strong relationship-building and account management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with surgeons, clinicians, and hospital leadership.
- Proficiency in presenting complex clinical and technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Solid analytical skills for interpreting sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to inform account strategies.
- Ability to work independently on-site, manage a territory, and prioritize multiple accounts and projects.
- Comfort working in clinical settings, including operating rooms, and adhering to all safety and compliance protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the territory as required.
- Prior experience supporting university or academic medical centers is a plus.
