Primary Duties:
Operates and documents all aspects of a procedure being performed. Performs EKG procedures. Places electrodes to patient’s chest and limbs. Operates ECG machine to accurately obtain electrocardiograms from patients upon doctor’s request. Performs stress ECG procedures. Monitors patients and all equipment during an exercise ECG procedure. Records and reproduces data observations during stress ECG procedures for report generation. Performs Stress test and Holter monitoring procedures. Communicates and coordinates tasks with Nuclear Medicine Laboratory personnel so that Nuclear Cardiology testing including Dobutamine, Persantine and exercise studies are completed as required. Performs Holter monitor hookups and operates equipment for Holter recording. Sends Holter tapes out to be scanned after procedure has been completed. Prepares and presents ECG tracings, Holter monitor reports and data, and stress test reports and data for physician interpretation. Monitor and maintain the flow of records for dictation, transcription, signature, and distribution promptly. Copies, distributes, and files reports. Maintains accurate and up to date department logs, records and filing system. Provides patients and family instruction and demonstration of procedure as needed. Provides technical services related to treatment and care of patients.
Environmental: Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes all procedure related equipment. Restocks and requests room supplies that have dwindled.
Development: Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programs. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements within allotted time for completion.
Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments. Participates in inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
BLS (Basic Life Support).
Completion of and ECG Training program preferred.
1-2 years' experience preferred.
