Job Summary:
MedStar Health is looking for a Transporter to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital!
As a Transporter, you will escort patients and transport items between patient units and ancillary departments. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Primary Duties:
Obtains supplies/equipment/medications, as needed, from appropriate departments and transports to nursing units. Obtains “STAT” medications from Pharmacy and delivers to nursing units.
Assists nursing staff getting patients into chairs/beds/stretchers, and escorts/transports patients to and from ancillary departments. Responds to all “Codes” as assigned to transport and obtain requests for supplies, medications, etc.
Transport specimens to appropriate laboratory. Utilizes communication devices (bellboy, walkie-talkie) to respond to requests for service, and always maintains all devices in proper working condition.
Communicates appropriate information to patients, staff, and visitors.
Maintains a safe environment for patients during all phases of transportation. Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred.
