Job Summary:
MedStar Health is looking for a System Pastoral Care Director to join our team at Franklin Square Medical Center
Provides direction to associates and volunteers in the Pastoral Care Department. Provides and oversees spiritual counseling, sacramental care, and support to patients, families, and staff of the hospital. Performs/arranges religious services to meet patient and staff needs. Acts as the ethical/moral advisor to the hospital. Sits on the Patient Care Advisory Committee at the request of the Medical Staff.

Primary Duties:
· Evaluates patient needs for spiritual guidance, offers individual and group counseling, and facilitates religious services. Acts as a liaison between patients, families, and hospital staff during crises.
· Ensures accurate documentation of patient religious preferences and sacraments in accordance with hospital policies. Prepares and maintains departmental reports and records.
· Works with hospital staff to resolve issues, participates in multidisciplinary teams, and represents the hospital in community outreach efforts. Manages department chaplains and volunteers.
· Plans and organizes spiritual programs, religious services, and chaplain coverage to ensure 24/7 support. Arranges visiting clergy and ecumenical services to meet diverse faith needs.
· Selects, trains, and evaluates chaplaincy staff. Provides performance feedback, sets departmental standards, and ensures ongoing communication to enhance service quality.
Qualifications:
· A Master’s degree of Divinity or equivalent degree according to denominational requirements. (required)
· Less than 1 year Parish ministry or other pastoral ministry experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting. (required)
Must be a certified Chaplain
