Job Summary:
This position supports the comfort and safety of bedside caregivers by supplying clean linen and removing soiled linen promptly. Not filling this position could result in delays in linen services, negatively impacting patient care and HCAHPS. As a Linen Distribution Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering and stock clean linen and picks up soiled linen, including: pillow cases, sheets, draw sheets, mattress pads, blue pads, blankets, thermal blankets, towels, washcloths, patient gowns, and hamper bags to/from nursing units and designated departments throughout the Washington Hospital Center.
Primary Duties:
Delivers clean linen to assigned nursing units/departments using linen cart.
Straightens and inventories supply of linen on the unit and enters the amount on hand into a portable, handheld computer.
Replenishes/stocks linen in accordance with the printout from the computer.
Delivers clean linen in response to special or STAT laundry orders/requests.
Retrieves soiled linen from designated locations throughout the Washington Hospital Center and transports it to the Soiled Linen Room.
Ensures that the work area is clean, orderly, and safe by sweeping, cleaning, straightening, and reporting damaged carts or other distribution equipment to the group leader or supervisor.
Assists in unloading of clean laundry carts from the delivery truck.
May issue scrubs, lab coats, etc. from the uniform area.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
0 to 6 months' experience required.
