Our year-long New Graduate Nurse Residency program provides the mentoring and support you need to transition from student nurse to professional nurse. You’ll be provided a three- to six-month unit-based orientation, attend monthly seminars and learning activities, formulate an individual professional development plan, and complete an Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) project related to a unit specialty of your choice.

Requirements
The New Graduate Nurse Residency Summer 2022 cohort, is intended for Spring/Summer 2022 graduates of accredited BSN and MSN programs. Winter BSN/MSN graduates will also be considered. This selective program is open only to candidates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferably 3.2), so please be sure to list your GPA in your resume or cover letter.

General Summary of Position:
A nurse is responsible for providing competent professional nursing care using the nursing process. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION: 1) must be waiting for results of NCLEX exam (first sitting) already taken; OR 2) must have set a NCLEX exam date (first sitting) within 2 months of GUH hire/start date OR 3) must have successfully completed the NCLEX and is awaiting DC Nursing Licensure. No Graduate Nurse Technician can be in this classification if they have already failed boards, or if they do not set a NCLEX exam date within two months after hire/start. BLS required.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as a nursing assistant or nurse tech desired. Satisfactory references from the school of nursing attended.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to perform current nursing technologies. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under stress.
