This role focuses on supporting daily living needs, promoting independence, administering medications, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment.
Psychiatric Technicians are mandated reporters and play a critical role in supporting consumer safety, dignity, and well-being.

Job Summary

What You’ll Do
Direct Care & Support
- Assist consumers with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, and mobility
- Support independence with household tasks (laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping)
- Provide positive behavioral support and behavior management interventions
- Escort consumers to medical appointments, work, and community activities
- Assist with recreational, vocational, and educational programs
- Monitor consumer behavior and physical condition
- Document care, behaviors, and incidents accurately
- Report injuries, concerns, or changes in condition to supervisors
- Complete incident reports when required
- Administer medications and treatments as authorized
- Take and record vital signs
- Assist Registered Nurses as needed
- Document medications, treatments, and consumer responses
- Participate in care planning as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Attend team meetings and required trainings
- Assist with training new staff when needed
- May act as Shift Lead in the absence of a lead
- Residential and community-based setting
- Work with individuals who may display challenging behaviors
- Physically active role (must lift up to 50 lbs)
- Hands-on behavior intervention and crisis response required
- Possible travel, overnight stays, rotating shifts, and overtime
Required
- Active Psychiatric Technician license (California BVNPT)
- At least 6 months of direct care experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to complete physical and hands-on intervention training
- Willingness to obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 1 year of hire
- CPR and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (provided or required)
- Completion of Direct Support Professional I & II training (or challenge exam)
- Maintain CEUs for license renewal
