Duties
- Collaborate closely with licensed physical therapists to develop and execute individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Assist in conducting comprehensive assessments, including evaluating patient physiology, anatomy, and functional limitations.
- Implement therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques—including trigger point therapy—and modalities to improve mobility and reduce discomfort.
- Support patients during treatment sessions, ensuring proper positioning, safety, and comfort throughout therapy activities.
- Monitor patient progress regularly, document responses to treatment, and communicate findings to the supervising therapist for ongoing care adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on physiotherapy techniques, home exercises, discharge planning, and injury prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate medical records using appropriate medical terminology and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist with discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care or referrals to outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health services as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings focused on optimizing patient outcomes across inpatient, outpatient, acute care, geriatrics, orthopedics, pediatrics, and clinic settings.
Skills
- Proficiency in physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy and manual therapy methods.
- Strong knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice.
- Experience working in inpatient settings or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable; familiarity with home health environments is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Ability to adapt quickly in outpatient clinics or acute care environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort.
- Knowledge of discharge planning processes and coordination of follow-up services across various healthcare settings.
- Prior experience with orthopedic rehabilitation or outpatient physiotherapy is preferred; clinic experience is highly valued.
