Responsibilities

• Deliver infusion therapy to patients across outpatient clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home care settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Administer medications via IV infusion, injections, and other routes while monitoring for adverse reactions or complications.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans.
• Manage IV insertions, catheter care, tube feeding, ventilator support, and other advanced nursing procedures with precision and confidence.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, case managers, and therapists to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on treatment procedures, medication management, pain control strategies, and discharge instructions.
• Perform laboratory specimen collection and processing; interpret diagnostic evaluations like ICD coding or imaging reports when necessary.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and infection control protocols to enhance patient safety outcomes.
• Provide triage support by assessing urgent needs over the phone or in person; prioritize care based on acuity levels typical of emergency medicine or ICU environments.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive medical records and documentation.

Requirements

• Valid RN license with current registration; experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, or patients with developmental disabilities is highly valued.
• Proven proficiency in infusion therapy techniques including IV insertion, catheterization, venipuncture, and aseptic technique.
• Critical care experience preferred—especially within ICU or Level I/II trauma centers—and familiarity with acute pain management strategies.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to medication administration and airway management.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; medical documentation accuracy is essential.
• Competency in laboratory procedures like specimen collection/processing and understanding of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for diagnostic evaluation.
• Ability to perform complex nursing procedures including suturing (if applicable), ostomy care, wound management, and gastrostomy tube feeding.
• Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; experience in triage or urgent care settings is advantageous.
• Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
• Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is a plus; familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine principles can enhance your effectiveness in end-of-life care scenarios.
