In this role, you will…
- Consult on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing counsel on general business and legal issues.
- Possess strong drafting skills, create contracts, product forms, and other documents as appropriate to support business divisions and to address corporate policy/compliance issues.
- Work with a cross functional team to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives.
- Provide legal advice, strategies, and solutions to all business functional areas, including Market Management, Marketing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations/IT, Finance, PS&RS, Claims, and Human Resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 3-8 years’ experience preferred.
- Experience in insurance and/or reinsurance preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- PC literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and Lexis or Westlaw.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong legal research and analysis skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective.
- Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-pace environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.
- Willingness to travel as necessary and work from the Fort Wayne home office weekly on a hybrid schedule.
