Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Location: ALLEGANY COUNTY

Job Type: Full-Time | Part-Time

We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our agency and provide support to individuals in various location across Maryland. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives in their homes and communities.

At our agency, we believe every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Our DSPs provide person-centered support that promotes independence, community inclusion, personal choice, and achievement of individual goals outlined in each Person-Centered Plan (PCP).

Position Responsibilities

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

· Provide person-centered support in accordance with each individual's Person-Centered Plan (PCP).

· Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and other daily living activities as needed.

· Encourage community integration by accompanying individuals to recreational activities, appointments, volunteer opportunities, shopping, and social events.

· Promote individual choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and independence in all aspects of service delivery.

· Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

· Maintain accurate documentation, service notes, and required DDA records in accordance with agency policies.

· Report incidents, changes in health status, or other significant events promptly.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, healthcare professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

· Participate in required training and staff meetings to maintain compliance with DDA standards and agency policies.

Qualifications

Preferred

· Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

· CPR| First Aid | Blood-borne pathogens training certification (or willingness to obtain).

· MANDT or other approved behavior management training is a plus.

· Medication Technician certification (CMT) is a plus.

· Experience working with Maryland DDA waiver services.

Required

· Must be at least 18 years of age.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Valid Maryland driver's license with a reliable, insured vehicle.

· Ability to pass criminal background, driving record, and reference checks.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Compassionate, dependable, patient, and professional.

· Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as required by the Person-Centered Plan.

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist individuals throughout the workday.

· Ability to safely transport individuals in a personal/company vehicle when required.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
