Ojibwe Language Medical Interpreter
Location: Onsite and Remote as Needed – White Earth, Cass Lake, Red Lake IHS
Job Type: Contract / Full-Time / Part-Time
Job Description:
Provide professional interpretation services in Ojibwe language for patients in healthcare and administrative encounters, ensuring culturally sensitive and accurate communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret medical, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, and administrative encounters.
- Maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA and IHS standards.
- Support telehealth appointments and onsite patient encounters.
- Document sessions and provide reporting for invoicing and performance monitoring.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in Ojibwe and English.
- Certification in medical interpretation preferred.
- Experience in healthcare interpreting.
- Cultural competency with AI/AN communities.
- HIPAA-trained and background-checked according to federal requirements.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
