Registered Nurse — Legal Nurse Consultant (Trainee Track)

Are you an RN ready to use your clinical knowledge in a completely new way — without the bedside hours, the night shifts, or the burnout? MedLegal Authority is opening a brand-new Legal Nurse Consulting division, and we’re looking for a curious, sharp registered nurse who wants to break into one of the most exciting and fast-growing fields in nursing: medical-legal consulting.

You don’t need prior legal experience. You need a nursing license, clinical judgment, and the drive to learn. We’ll teach you the rest — and we’ll invest in your continuing education in the medical-legal field as you grow with us.

About MedLegal Authority

MedLegal Authority is a physician-led medical-legal practice founded by a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with 35 years of experience and more than 1,000 independent medical evaluations completed. We provide attorneys, insurers, and employers with credible, independent medical opinions — and we’re growing fast. Our new Legal Nurse Consulting division is the ground floor of that growth, and you’d be one of the first nurses to build it with us.

What does a Legal Nurse Consultant actually do?

A Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) is a registered nurse who applies clinical expertise to legal cases. Instead of treating patients, you help attorneys and insurers understand the medicine. In this role, you would learn to:

• Review and organize medical records into clear, usable timelines (chronologies)
• Screen cases to assess whether they have medical merit
• Identify and flag potential deviations from the standard of care for our physicians to review
• Summarize complex clinical information in plain, accurate language
• Support our physician experts as they prepare opinions and testimony

Your work is the foundation on which every case is built — and it sets up our physician team to do what only they can do.

What you bring

• Active RN license (Oklahoma or compact/multistate eligible).
• Clinical experience — a few years of hands-on nursing in any setting; med-surg, ortho, ICU, ER, or case management are all great backgrounds.
• Strong reading and writing skills — you can digest a thick chart and explain it clearly.
• Detail orientation — dates, facts, and accuracy matter enormously in this work.
• Curiosity and self-motivation — you’re excited to learn something new and work independently.
• Comfort with computers — records review, document software, and email.

Nice to have (but not required): any prior exposure to legal nurse consulting, workers’ compensation, personal injury, utilization review, or medical record review.
