Sterile Processing Supervisor
We’re looking for an experienced sterile processing professional to take on a leadership role within a hospital-based instrument processing department. This position focuses on team development, operational excellence, and ensuring that all instrument reprocessing activities meet the highest standards for safety and compliance.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Leadership & Team Development
- Oversee daily shift operations and provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback to SPD staff.
- Maintain staffing coverage and work schedules across all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Lead regular check-ins with team members to discuss goals, expectations, and career development.
- Support employee onboarding, competency assessments, and ongoing training initiatives.
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, and retention efforts as needed.
Operational Execution
- Ensure all instrument processing tasks—cleaning, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution—adhere to established industry guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Step into technician duties when workflow demands require additional support.
- Serve as a point of contact for clinical partners, addressing questions and coordinating needs throughout the day (including after-hours support when specified).
- Help maintain proper documentation for quality, safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure staff follow departmental policies, communication protocols, and escalation pathways.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct routine observations to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify improvement opportunities.
- Promote a culture of safety through consistent use of PPE, universal precautions, and daily safety practices.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and department leaders to strengthen working relationships and operational reliability.
- Assist with identifying training gaps and support ongoing education efforts.
- Contribute to improvement projects and additional department initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- 4 years of sterile processing experience, including Supervisor or Lead experience
- CRCST or CBSPD certification plus a secondary certification (instrument specialist, endoscope certification, or leadership-focused credential). If not already held, both must be
Location: New Orleans, LA
Salary Range: $71,000–$92,000 depending on experience
This role also qualifies for participation in a performance-based bonus program.
