Position: Research Associate - Preclinical ResearchPay: $22.73 - $36.00 per hour (based on level and experience)Contract: Contract hire, full-timeDescription: The Research Associate supports preclinical research operations within the Large Animal team (primates and beagles). This role involves performing technical procedures, collecting data, and supporting toxicology and pharmacology studies while ensuring compliance with GLP standards. A strong interest in animal care and drug development science is essential.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and conduct technical procedures (blood collection, IV administration, injections, anesthesia, dosing).Handle, restrain, and provide clinical care to animals (primates 2-5kg, beagles).Accurately document and collect study data in compliance with SOPs and GLP standards.Operate laboratory equipment (glucometer, pumps, thermometers).Monitor and report changes in animal health, behavior, or housing conditions.Maintain veterinary instruments, study ancillaries, and facility organization.Participate in large and small molecule toxicology studies (50-100 studies running concurrently).Support study directors and supervisors with sample and data collection.Cross-train across departments and engage in continuous learning.Schedule/Shift:Training period (2-3 months): Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.Post-training: Tuesday-Saturday OR Sunday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.Overtime, rotating holidays, and occasional weekend coverage are required.Requirements:High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in science preferred.Preclinical technical skills: blood collection, IV administration, injections.Animal research experience (internship, academic lab, or CRO) strongly preferred.Experience from companies such as Covance, NPI, or Charles River is a plus.Willingness to work overtime and adapt to shifting schedules.Nice-to-Have Skills:Veterinary assistant experience.Clinical procedures (injections, IV administration, surgery support, necropsy, or euthanasia exposure).uthanasia exposure).For California Applicants:We will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable federal, state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO), Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers (ULAC), The San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance (FCO) , and the California Fair Chance Act (CFCA).This position is subject to a background check based on its job duties, which may include patient care, working with vulnerable populations, access to financial and confidential information, driving, working with heavy machinery, or working in a warehouse or laboratory environment.
