We are seeking a General Medicine Principal Investigator to join an established clinical research site in Pikesville, Maryland. This site has been conducting industry-sponsored clinical trials for more than 25 years and is recognized for its expertise in CNS, psychiatry, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia research, while continuing to expand its general medicine research portfolio.
This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced research team dedicated to advancing innovative therapies, improving patient access to clinical trials, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered research. The Principal Investigator will provide medical oversight for clinical trials while partnering with coordinators, regulatory staff, sponsors, and other investigators to ensure the successful conduct of studies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Principal Investigator on Phase II-IV industry-sponsored clinical trials
- Provide medical oversight and ensure the safety and well-being of study participants
- Review patient eligibility, medical histories, laboratory results, and adverse events
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines, IRB requirements, and study protocols
- Collaborate with clinical research coordinators, regulatory personnel, sponsors, and CRO partners
- Participate in investigator meetings, monitoring visits, sponsor interactions, and audits
- Support patient recruitment, enrollment, and retention initiatives
- Maintain accurate and timely study documentation
- Contribute to the growth of the site's general medicine research capabilities
- Help advance innovative therapies and improve patient access to clinical research opportunities
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a related General Medicine specialty
- Active and unrestricted Maryland medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Strong clinical judgment and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment
- Interest in clinical research, medical innovation, and expanding patient access to clinical trials
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a Principal Investigator, Sub-Investigator, or conducting industry-sponsored clinical research
- Experience working in outpatient general medicine settings
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and clinical trial operations
- Interest in therapeutic areas such as metabolic disease, obesity, neurology, vaccines, psychiatry, or other general medicine indications
