Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and resolves credit balances.
- Identifying coordination of benefit issues, contacting patients and assisting in resolving discrepancies.
- Physician Billing experience.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid Governmental Benefits and Regulations.
- Strong knowledge of Medical Insurance Coverages.
- Comply with all regulatory agencies.
- Handles all telephone inquiries related to overpayments.
- Reviews and resolves third party correspondence and denials pertaining to refunds and credits.
- Works within specific deadlines.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Some college preferred.
- Three (3) years healthcare billing/reimbursement or collections experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of EPIC program, preferred.
- Full knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT coding.
- Full knowledge of third-party billing (use of modifiers and COB rules).
- Knowledge of HIPPA
- Working knowledge of all insurance and/or government rules regarding payments, credit procedures, claims submittal and appeals processes.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Ability to read and correctly interpret Explanation of Benefits.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge and utilization of Third-Party Websites.
- Participation in all educational activities, seminars and webinars.
