We are seeking a Certified Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team:
Core Responsibilities:
-The pharmacy technicians involved with the compounding process must adhere to and meet the requirements and testing as outlined in the Compounding Policy and Procedure Manual as well as the employee handbook.
-Proficiency in using various compounding and billing software for lab activities.
-Prepare and make compounds according to USP <795> and other relevant guidelines.
-Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and implementing SOPs
-Package and label prepared compounds in suitable dispensing tool.
-Place and confirm that the beyond-use date on the patient’s product label is correct.
-Send prepared compound and documentation to pharmacist for verification and sign off.
-Responsible for daily cleaning and logs in accordance with established policy.
-Reviews, organizes and prioritizes assigned daily task items.
-Mill any compounds that require particle size reduction.
-Perform daily confirmation that all equipment is clean and functional, including capsule machines, counters, and balances.
-Preparing and unloading the dishwasher, as necessary.
-Ensure all equipment, including freezer/fridge temperatures and weights on scales at workstation are verified and maintained/calibrated every morning.
-Prioritize and manage a wide variety of critical and/or time-sensitive job duties
-Ensure that all relevant steps in each compound are verified with the pharmacist on duty.
-Perform inventory tasks daily and as needed.
-Prepare compounds and other medications for pharmacist verification by ensuring that the right drug is labeled and scanned out of Compound Assist, as necessary.
-Teach and mentor other pharmacy technicians, as necessary.
-May be asked to handle special projects as well as perform other duties that may be assigned.
Training:
-The compounding technician may be required to obtain additional training based on the evaluation by an appropriate individual.
-Learn and maintain training for lab-related activities, including, but not limited to the following: (a) Hand hygiene; (b) Garbing; (c) Scale balancing and calibration; (d) Handling and transporting components and CNSPs; (e) Equipment availability and purpose; (f) Process documentation; (g) Literature; (h) Sampling; (i) Spill containment and disposal
-Take part in relevant training.
-Take part in departmental meetings, as well as in relevant educational programs.
Skills:
-Excellent reading, writing, and math skills
-Have good verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Requirements:
-One year nonsterile compounding experience
-Certified pharmacy technician (CPhT)
Preferred:
-Have 2 or more years experience in nonsterile compounding
-Hold current NY registration as pharmacy technician (i.e. RPhT)
-Fluency in a second language (Spanish, Russian, etc.)
-Have prior leadership experience
Schedule:
-4 weekdays x 10 hours
Salary
-$22-$30, depending on experience
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
