Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in in long-term care. This role requires a strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and dignity while supporting medical staff with essential caregiving duties. Experience with seniors, and those requiring specialized care such as Alzheimer's is highly valued. The CNA will utilize their knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs, and basic clinical procedures to support overall patient well-being in compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR/EHR systems and document all patient interactions in accordance with medical documentation protocols.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions; including memory care techniques and behavioral management strategies.
- Support patients in rehabilitation or post-acute care settings by assisting with physiotherapy exercises and mobility training.
- Ensure patient safety by recognizing signs of distress or deterioration and escalating concerns promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Experience
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is preferred.
- Background in specialized areas such as Alzheimer's/dementia care, behavioral health, pediatrics, or post-acute/post-surgical care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
- Certification as a CNA is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, infection control practices (including aseptic technique), and basic life support certification are essential for success in this role.
