Salary/Benefits: $20.19/hr Plus paid holidays & earned vacation and personal days.
Schedule: Varies Per Department
Nature of Work: Provides general clerical and financial support to administrators and staff to contribute to department/building efficiency; responds to needs of staff, students and public professionally and timely.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Acceptable results on BCI & FBI criminal background checks and completes enrollment in Rapback.
· One to three years of related work experience including clerical and customer service preferred.
· Competitive testing for in-house candidates; civil service testing for entry-level candidates required.
· Alternatives to the above qualifications as superintendent or board of education deem appropriate.
Essential Functions: (Not intended to be a complete list)
· Performs general duties such as greeting visitors, answering phone and directing calls, accepting deliveries.
· Prepares routine correspondence and processes required reports timely.
· Assists students and parents regularly with various issues.
· Reviews employee entries for assigned building/department in the automated attendance system.
· Reviews submitted time sheets for accuracy, makes sure they are appropriately approved.
· Maintains accurate information on various spreadsheets and computer programs.
· Assists with organizing and overseeing department/building events.
· Generates Purchase Orders for supplies, verifies receipt of goods, and processes payment of invoices, credit card bills and cash reimbursements while insuring within budget.
· Assists with preparing annual budget.
· Works with principal to process student disciplinary paperwork and other projects as assigned.
· Records daily student attendance.
· Tracks and verifies new student enrollments and withdrawals.
· Maintains up-to-date school calendar, building/department webpage, digital sign, etc….
· Uses discretion and maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Promotes good public relations and positive working relationships by personal appearance, attitude, and using tact and diplomacy in all communications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to work effectively with others as well as independently with little supervision.
· Ability to efficiently multi-task during frequent interruptions.
· Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills needed to clearly and effectively convey information and ideas.
· Confident in use of technology, including but not limited to: Basic proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs, e.g. Word, Excel; Google Drive, e.g. Docs, Calendar & Sheets; automated attendance system and District financial software preferred.
· Prior exposure to financial tasks, e.g. budgeting, reporting, generating purchase orders, etc… helpful.
· Ability to work outside of normally scheduled work hours with prior supervisor approval.
· Patient with a genuinely caring attitude.
· Ability to maintain composure at all times.
· Familiarity with basic first aid.
Nature of Examination: There are 3 parts to this testing, written (100 questions with 1hr and 45 min. allotted), Basic Excel (24 questions with 40 minutes allotted) and Basic Word (24 questions with 40 minutes allotted) Passing grade is 70% or better. All test results and scores are subject to public record laws. Test will be held on June 30th (Time TBD depending on total no. of applicants).
Veterans Preference: Any veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged and who PASSES the test may receive an additional credit provided proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) is presented and verified prior to the date of the examination.
Probation: All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked. The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet required work standards.
