Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, hallways, restrooms, and public areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare standards.
- Properly handle chemical agents used for cleaning and sanitation following OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to ensure safety for yourself and others.
- Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and carpet cleaning to maintain a pristine environment.
- Use janitorial equipment safely and effectively while adhering to safety protocols for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
- Follow strict sanitation procedures to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and support infection control policies.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, chemical usage, safety inspections, and incident reports as required by healthcare facility standards.
Skills
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safe lifting practices, and environmental safety protocols.
- Experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping or hospital custodial services with an understanding of infection prevention measures.
- Proficiency in the use of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, extractors, and chemical dispensers.
- Strong manual handling skills with the ability to lift heavy objects safely while following proper techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and management.
- Familiarity with janitorial best practices including sanitation standards specific to healthcare environments.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety compliance.
