Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is North America’s leading dinner attraction. Medieval Times employs over 2,000 enthusiastic, team members throughout North America and Canada. Medieval Times is an exciting entertainment & dining experience with 10 locations entertaining millions of visitors each year.    We are looking for a Data Architect to join our corporate team in Irving, Texas!


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Data Architect is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide data architecture strategy, enterprise reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. This role collaborates with technical business partners and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and architect, integrate, implement, and support enterprise systems using Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and Dynamics Business Central.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and develop reports and dashboards using Power BI (including Paginated Reports).
  2. Manage Microsoft SQL Server environments including performance tuning, query optimization, and data integration using Azure Functions and Azure Data Factory
  3. Architect and maintain data warehouses and data lakes using Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Microsoft Fabric.
  4. Lead deployment readiness of SQL-based reporting solutions, including the build, test, and release of Power BI reports, SSRS reports, and SQL scripts using Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  5. Collaborate with system administrators and application owners to ensure enterprise data platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft CRM, Active Directory, and Entra ID) are properly configured, integrated, and optimized to support data architecture and analytics initiatives.
  6. Ensure compliance with Microsoft security standards and data governance policies, and GDPR and PCI Security Council guidelines.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Programming & Development: Proficient in SQL, T-SQL, DAX, M Query, PowerShell, C#, VBScript, XML, Excel formulas.

Data & BI Tools: Power BI (including DAX Studio, datasets, and server configuration), Power BI Report Builder, SSRS, SSAS (Tabular and OLAP), Power Automate, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory

Systems & Platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, Entra/AD, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics Business Central, Microsoft CRM, Familiarity with Microsoft-based Retail/Payment Solutions and PCI compliance

Language Skills: Ability to read technical documentation: comfort with navigating Microsoft Learn, GitHub repos, and product manuals. Interpretation of feature guides and release notes: Skill in extracting relevant information from update logs, preview feature descriptions, and configuration instructions. Capable of writing clear and concise reports, documentation, and business correspondence. Skilled in delivering effective verbal communication to individuals and groups across all levels of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in performing financial and quantitative calculations, including discounts, interest rates, commissions, proportions, percentages, and other business-related computations. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios with accuracy and efficiency.

Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve practical issues involving diverse variables and limited standardization. Capable of interpreting and executing instructions delivered in various formats, including written documents, verbal communication, diagrams, and schedules.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field or a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in data management or analytics. Minimum of two years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing queries and managing databases. At least two years of experience implementing and configuring Microsoft enterprise applications such as Reporting Services, Power BI, or comparable reporting systems. Strong understanding of reporting and analytics using Power BI, SSRS, or other Microsoft reporting tools is required.


Familiarity with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric) is preferred but not required. Experience with Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) is a plus.
