Radiographers are primarily responsible for operating X-ray equipment, fluoroscopy, in theatre screening, CT scanning and MRI, to produce high-quality diagnostic images that aid in the diagnosis of patients.

Essential Minimum Experience

• Completion of Community Service within the relevant field of work, MRI experience and capability.
  
  

Desired Experience

• 2 years private practice
  
  

Essential Education

• National Diploma Radiography, BTech Radiography or Bachelor’s in Diagnostic Radiography (BRad)
  
  

DESIRED EDUCATION

• Certificate in Mammography Intravenous cannulation course
  
  

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Operate radiology equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• MRI Examinations
• Assist the Radiologist with procedures
• Application of Radiation protection measures to minimise radiation exposure to patients, staff, self and others (ALARA Principle)
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of examinations performed
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Quality control test as per SAHPRA Regulations
• Assist with modality stock control and ordering of consumables
• Assist with billing, procedural and ICD-10 codes
  
  

Required Job Skills And Knowledge

• SAHPRA Regulations
• Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office)
• ALARA Principle
• Procedural and ICD-10 codes
