What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full time Certified Pharmacy Technician position at MEDICINE STOP II?
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmaceutical services in an independent community pharmacy setting. This role involves prescription processing, customer service, inventory management, and administrative support while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately using pharmacy software
- Prepare, count, measure, package, and label medications under pharmacist supervision
- Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and refill authorization processes
- Manage inventory, including ordering medications and supplies, stocking shelves, and monitoring expiration dates
- Handle third-party insurance claims, billing issues, prior authorizations, and copay collection
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to patients, including answering phone calls and assisting with over-the-counter product inquiries
- Maintain accurate patient profiles, prescription records, and confidential information in compliance with HIPAA
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, safety standards, and store policies
- Assist with pharmacy cleanliness, organization, and workflow efficiency
- Support additional services offered by the independent pharmacy, such as immunization clinics, compounding assistance (if applicable), or delivery coordination
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician certification and/or state registration (as required by state law)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in an independent or retail pharmacy setting
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team
