About the Role:
The Nuclear Med Tech plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials. The Nuclear Med Tech will ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to strict protocols and regulations regarding radiation exposure. Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate Nuclear Medicine program
- Current certification with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or certification eligible post-graduation from a Nuclear Medicine Program. If registry eligible, must complete the certification with a passing grade within one month following hire date.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
- Experience in a clinical setting, particularly in a radiology department.
- Additional certifications in advanced imaging techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians during exams along with obtaining nuclear images for interpretation.
- Maintaining high quality of professionalism in dealing with patients.
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT scans, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, monitoring their reactions and providing necessary care.
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and safely.
- Document and report imaging results accurately, collaborating with physicians to discuss findings.
- Educate patients about procedures, addressing any concerns to ensure a positive experience.
