JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE:
- Greet and escort patient for imaging procedure.
- Collect and record patient data.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedure.
- Explain to patient in detail the events that will take place during exam.
- Answer any questions the patients may have prior to and after the procedure.
- Perform Echocardiography, EKG, and Stress Echo procedures.
- Operating Treadmill and its workstation functions.
- Interpret clinical data provided on requisitions and adjust technical factors if indicated to produce optimal images.
- Maintain department policies and procedures and update accordingly.
- Keep accurate, up to date records of all supplies used, report stock level to administrator, and initiate orders to replenish stocks.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in work and patient care areas to practice and maintain aseptic conditions.
- Cross-train in other modalities as see fit by administrator.
- Assist in other areas, wherever needed at the center.
- Practice sterile techniques in all activities to prevent cross-contamination.
- Scheduling patients for procedures.
- Knowledge of RIS software and call for support when problems arise.
- Knowledge of PACS workstations.
- Perform ACR accreditation.
- Practice ACR guidelines.
- Perform Peer-Review.
- Ability to teach other technologists/students as see fit.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Vascular Technologist (CVT) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer. Must have passed written Registry in Physics. 1 year working experience with state-of-the-art equipment.
Skills:
§ Knowledge of anatomy and cross section anatomy with the respect of acquiring images.
§ Skills in Echocardiography, EKG, Stress Echo, Vascular with Color Doppler.
§ Basic knowledge and understanding of laser, electronic, digital data communication and PACS.
§ Knowledge of common error codes, including recovery procedure for basic equipment malfunction.
§ Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
§ Follow universal precautions and appropriate infection control principles.
§ Knowledge of medical terminology.
§ Maintain a safe patient environment.
§ Skill in interpersonal and oral and written communications.
§ Ability to maintain confidential information.
§ Ability to enter, update, store, and retrieve data base information using a computer.
§ Ability to work as a team; collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, physicians, staff and patients.
§ Knowledge of clinical and clerical methods and techniques, office equipment and machines.
§ Ability to apply exceptional customer service skills at all times
§ Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures.
§ Ability to operate AED and knowledge of Crash Cart contents.
§ Practice HIPAA guidelines
