Position Summary
The Gastroenterologist will provide full-spectrum outpatient GI care with an emphasis on consultative gastroenterology, chronic disease management, and preventive GI services. The role is primarily ambulatory with limited inpatient consult responsibilities depending on site structure and call arrangement.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of GI conditions, including:
- GERD, IBS, IBD (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
- Liver disease (hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis management)
- Colorectal cancer screening and surveillance
- Perform and interpret relevant GI procedures (scope of practice dependent on facility privileges)
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, hospitalists, and specialty teams
- Participate in colorectal cancer screening initiatives and population health programs
- Document care in the electronic health record accurately and in a timely manner
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocols
- May participate in limited call coverage depending on site needs (typically low frequency)
Work Environment
- Outpatient-focused FQHC clinic setting
- Multidisciplinary care teams including primary care, APPs, nursing, and behavioral health
- Strong referral base with consistently high demand for GI services
- Fully integrated electronic medical record system
- Support for prior authorizations, care coordination, and administrative tasks
Schedule
- Full-time, weekday schedule (typically Monday–Friday)
- No required inpatient rounding in most configurations (site dependent)
- Limited or optional call coverage depending on facility structure
- Predictable schedule with emphasis on work-life balance
