Plumber/ Medical Gas Apprentice

Position Summary

The Plumber/Medical Gas Apprentice supports the installation of medical gas pipeline systems in hospitals and healthcare facilities. This is a hands-on, full-time role that involves extensive travel, physical work, and learning a specialized plumbing trade within the medical field. Successful candidates are dependable, willing to learn, and flexible with scheduling.

Pay & Schedule

• $15.00–$40.00 per hour, paid weekly
• Starting pay is based on experience, certifications, and relevant skills.
• Full-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible)
• Typical schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• Some nights and weekends as required
• Overtime available
• Approximately 95% travel

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed plumbers and lead installers with medical gas pipeline installations (oxygen, medical air, vacuum, etc.)
• Load, unload, and transport tools, piping, and materials
• Set up and break down job sites daily
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly
• Follow instructions, drawings, and job-site procedures
• Work professionally inside active healthcare facilities
• Follow OSHA, NFPA 99, and company safety policies

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel extensively
• Flexible availability, including occasional nights and weekends
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Maintains a clean and professional appearance appropriate for working in healthcare facilities and in accordance with company policies
• OSHA 10 certification required
• Willingness to obtain required ASSE 6010 certification after hire. The company provides training support; certification costs are the employee's responsibility.
• Ability to satisfy healthcare facility requirements for access, which may include background screening, drug testing, vaccinations, or other site-specific requirements, as required by the facility
• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required, as driving is an essential function of this position
• Plumbing or construction experience is required

Physical & Work Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to work in ceilings, confined spaces, and elevated areas
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
• Extended travel and occasional overnight stays
