About the Role
Field Services Engineers are tasked with managing technical functions, testing equipment, handling repairs, managing engineering projects, and conducting site inspections. They also engage with clients, ensure compliance, conduct feasibility studies, and apply technical knowledge to practical problems. Field engineer duties usually include inspecting and installing equipment and new technologies, directing crews or workers on site, conducting research, and reporting on project status. Field engineers will make sure that everything works smoothly and engineering designs are being followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Run field operations, provide technical support, and troubleshoot on-site issues
- Install, maintain, repair, and test equipment; ensure proper functioning
- Inspect and install new technologies; conduct site inspections
- Analyze data, monitor expenditure, and draft progress reports
- Ensure compliance, safety, and environmental standards
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and CAD reports
- Collaborate with engineers and clients to implement procedures and resolve issues
- Conduct research, feasibility studies, and equipment performance testing
- Provide equipment training to customers and local support agents
- Manage parts, preventive maintenance, field modifications, and repair cycles
- Maintain accurate service logs, documentation, and customer communications
- Identify and participate in sales opportunities (new contracts, renewals, system sales)
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s preferred
- 5 years of related experience preferred
- Strong mechanical, technical, and analytical skills
- Experience with CAD software, prototyping, and product testing
- Knowledge of control systems, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and evaluate feasibility
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to create business plans with actionable objectives
- Networking and stakeholder engagement skills
- Marketing, sales, and business development experience
- Manufacturing or start-up experience
- Experience with international or multi-market operations
