Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out processes using EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification efficiently
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using medical scheduling software
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously
- Maintain and organize medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review
- Assist with billing procedures including billing, posting, denails, medical collection efforts and processing payments
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating patient information, and managing front desk administrative tasks
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing practices
- Must have their own transportation, need to be highly reliable and should be able to multitask.
- Ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor and effective communication abilities in bilingual settings preferred
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, insurance processing, and care plan coordination
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and managing front desk operations efficiently
