Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist with EPIC EHR experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for Norwalk & Greenwich patients, providing outstanding customer service while managing front-desk operations efficiently. Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records (EHR) is essential to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner
- Schedule, confirm, and modify patient appointments using EPIC
- Verify patient insurance and demographic information prior to appointments
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; provide receipts and maintain accurate records
- Answer multi-line phones and direct calls appropriately
- Register new patients and update existing patient information in EPIC
- Prepare and distribute necessary patient forms and documentation
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling
- Perform general clerical duties including scanning, faxing, and filing
- Assist with prior authorizations and referrals as needed
- Monitor waiting room activity and address any patient concerns or issues promptly
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or relevant certification preferred
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a medical office or clinical setting
- EPIC EHR system experience required
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and front office procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Bilingual skills are a plus (optional depending on location/population served)
- Working Conditions:
- Standard office environment in a clinical setting
- Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and staff
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs (e.g., files or office supplies)
