Assistant Vice President, Risk Management

Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance serving Maryland doctors for over 50 years, seeks an Assistant Vice President, Risk Management to provide strategic leadership in the development, operational management, and accreditation compliance of educational programs for its policyholders.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and ensure the effective delivery of comprehensive evidence-based educational programs to educate physicians and healthcare professionals on industry best practices and risk mitigation strategies, and to navigate complex healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on medico-legal matters, including federal and state privacy laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Maryland Medical Practice Act, informed consent, outcome disclosure, and termination of treatment.
- Respond promptly and effectively to policyholder inquiries regarding regulatory compliance and practice management concerns.
- Drive innovation through the development of new educational initiatives and strategic marketing approaches.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, including those of the ACCME and ADA, and maintain regulatory adherence for Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
- Develop and oversee content for Risk Management newsletters and Risk Management section of the Company website.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all Risk Management services and staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Clinical healthcare degree or Juris Doctor preferred
- At least three years of general management experience
- At least five years of malpractice risk management experience, malpractice claims experience, or healthcare compliance experience
- At least five years of professional experience interacting with healthcare providers
- At least 10 years of professional experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Active certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM-Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management), or obtain certification within two years of hire
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately under time constraints and meet deadlines
- Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis
Salary Range: $115,000 - $161,000 (commensurate with experience)
