Overview

Shape products. Improve processes. Make an impact.

We are seeking a Molding Manufacturing Engineer to play a critical role in transferring molded products from development into full-scale production and sustaining high-performing manufacturing processes. This position blends hands-on molding expertise, process development, and customer-facing engineering, offering the opportunity to influence product quality, efficiency, and scalability in a regulated manufacturing environment.

You’ll work closely with R&D, production, quality, and external vendors to ensure molding processes meet customer expectations for quality, cost, and delivery, while continuously improving equipment, tooling, and workflows.

What You’ll Do

  • Support and comply with the Quality Management System, including all applicable SOPs within the Manufacturing Training Matrix.
  • Partner with R&D to support molding and secondary operations during product development.
  • Lead and support the transfer of molding projects from development into manufacturing using established transfer checklists.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for molding-related issues from production and development teams.
  • Coordinate and manage transfer builds, including materials, labor, and production line readiness.
  • Manage production lines during transfer builds to ensure smooth execution and issue resolution.
  • Develop and optimize molding processes to achieve target throughput, yield, and cost objectives.
  • Train assemblers and production personnel on molding procedures, equipment setup, and line start activities during and after transfer.
  • Communicate with vendors to support production needs, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Manage and execute process validation activities in accordance with Master Validation Plans, including IQ, OQ, PQ, Gauge R&R, and software validation.
  • Perform IQ, OQ, and PQ activities for assigned molding projects.
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of custom equipment and fixtures to meet cost, quality, and throughput targets.
  • Lead acquisition, installation, and qualification of new molding and secondary equipment; develop preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
  • Support equipment maintenance and troubleshooting within scope of expertise; manage escalation and support equipment re-entry into production.
  • Ensure effective handoff of processes, documentation, and training to production teams.
  • Identify and address safety risks related to molding equipment and processes through procedural updates or equipment modifications.
  • Support production line layout improvements to enhance efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Participate in annual risk assessments and manage updates to Device Master Records (DMR).

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong foundation in molding processes with a passion for hands-on engineering and continuous improvement.
  • 2–5 years of experience in injection molding or related manufacturing processes (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Plastics-focused coursework or practical molding experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments; ISO, cGMP, and ISO 13485 experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software such as SolidWorks (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools, including DOE and Minitab (preferred).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working directly with equipment and tooling.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and urgency.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing interactions.
