Duties
- Manage and supervise the daily operations of the DME/HME billing department, ensuring all claims are processed accurately and promptly.
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and follow-up of insurance claims across multiple payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations and guidelines.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to billing staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Review complex or denied claims for root causes and implement corrective actions to improve reimbursement rates.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, insurance companies, and vendors to resolve billing issues efficiently.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as claim acceptance rates, days in accounts receivable, and collection efficiency to optimize departmental productivity.
- Stay current with industry changes, updates in billing codes (such as HCPCS), and regulatory requirements affecting DME/HME billing practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing DME/HME or medical billing operations with a strong understanding of insurance claim processes.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid policies, DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics Orthotics Supplies) regulations, and relevant coding systems (e.g., HCPCS).
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for auditing claims and resolving discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
