The Handyman / Janitorial Services position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and fully operational facility. This individual supports daily operations by performing a combination of routine cleaning tasks, preventative maintenance, and minor repair work. The ideal candidate is proactive, reliable, and able to manage a wide range of responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform minor repairs including basic plumbing (leaks, clogs, faucet replacements), simple electrical tasks (outlet/switch replacement, lighting fixes), and general building maintenance.
- Repair or replace fixtures, doors, locks, cabinets, hinges, and wall damage as needed.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment, appliances, and building systems to ensure proper function and avoid downtime.
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and escalate when major repairs or licensed contractors are required.
Facility Inspections
- Conduct daily and weekly walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, supply shortages, and areas requiring cleaning or repair.
- Document and report facility issues to management promptly, ensuring timely resolution.
Custodial & Cleaning Duties
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and surfaces to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Restock paper products, soap, cleaning supplies, and other consumables.
- Handle trash collection, removal, and proper waste disposal, including recycling and special waste as required.
Exterior Building Care
- Maintain building exteriors, including light landscaping, trimming, debris removal, and cleaning walkways and entrances.
- Perform basic upkeep of parking areas, outdoor lighting, and signage.
- Support seasonal tasks such as clearing leaves, ice, or snow (if applicable).
Operational Support
- Assist with office and room setups, event preparation, furniture assembly, and rearranging workspaces.
- Move equipment, boxes, deliveries, and supplies as needed.
- Provide general support to staff by responding to maintenance requests and janitorial needs throughout the day.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols, cleaning standards, and maintenance procedures to ensure a hazard-free environment.
- Use proper PPE and maintain safe operation of tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure the facility meets cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards set by company policies and applicable regulations.
