Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential administrative support within a busy medical practice, ensuring efficient clinic operations and excellent patient service. This role involves managing medical records, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and supporting clinical staff with documentation review and coding procedures. Experience with EPIC is preferred but not required. Bilingual skills and prior clinic or dental office experience are a plus. The Medical Office Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensuring accurate medical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and intake processes using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures efficiently.
- Maintain and update patient medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle front desk duties including multi-line phone system management, patient check-in/out, and providing excellent patient service.
- Maintain professionalism in phone etiquette and patient interactions while providing administrative support in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices.
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to review medical documentation accurately and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational skills combined with strong communication skills for front desk duties and patient service roles.
