Maintenance Technician III - San Diego, CA

Salary Range: $33-$35/hr

 

JOB PURPOSE

The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and timely repair of equipment to optimize its effectiveness and minimize production down time. 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/JOB DUTIES

  • Creates or receives work orders, identifies faulty equipment, and acquires parts and equipment to complete repairs. Works with production and engineering to prioritize daily work. 
  • Trouble shoots, repairs, installs and maintains production equipment from basic electro-mechanical and hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery. 
  • Communicates accurately, concisely, and professionally to stake holders as to important repair steps taken, parts ordered, and time estimated until completion. Documents and communicates actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. 
  • Responds effectively to service requests and controls downtime by informing production of routine preventive maintenance requirements. 
  • Performs repair functions such as replacing servos, encoders, control components and other components on precision equipment. 
  • Coordinates with outside service vendors and assists outside service staff to insure work is done in a safe and effective manner. 
  • Works efficiently with emphasis on organization of tools, equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. 
  • Use maintenance management software for timely and effective tracking of repair history, preventative maintenance records, spare parts inventories and downtime. 
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all applicable procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a minimum of four years’ experience working with equipment in a manufacturing environment.    
  • Strong knowledge trouble shooting electrical problems.  
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, to clear codes and solve machine problems. (this will be on the job training) 
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic programming and functions related to PLC control systems. 
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics to trace electrical problems.  
  • Working knowledge with CNC, EDM, coating, laser and automation equipment.  
  • Machining skills  

 

PERSONAL SKILLS AND KEY COMPETENCIES

 

  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills in order to optimize machine uptime with the ability to handle several competing priorities at one time. 
  • The position requires excellent discretionary judgement and the ability to be flexible around quickly changing priorities. 
  • Must have strong computer and written communication skill. 
  • Needs to have good verbal communication on all levels.  
  • Wear appropriate PPE on the Production Floor 
  • Participate in regular stretch breaks 
  • Must have strong computer and written communication skill.
