The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking an Assistant Professor to be part of its growing clinical, education and research missions in sub-specialty area of Adult Reconstruction Surgery.

Position Highlights

  • The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at MCW includes 45 clinical faculty members, 3 active research faculty members, 52 advanced practice providers, 25 residents and 4 fellows.
  • Join a highly collaborative and team-oriented division with diverse training and practice backgrounds, dedicated to providing the highest level of care for all patients requiring primary and complex/revision arthroplasty in Wisconsin and surrounding regions
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship, where fellows will gain expertise in ASC and outpatient primary arthroplasty efficiency, robotic and traditional arthroplasty techniques, and the management of complex primary and revision cases for all indications, with a special emphasis on post-traumatic conditions, periprosthetic infection management, and periprosthetic fracture care
  • Access to research resources including clinical research, MCW Center for Imaging Research (CIR), a biomechanics lab, the Center for Motion Analysis lab, and other resources
  • Support for research is available throughout the broad range of the academic disciplines at MCW to meet the goals and interests of a new faculty member. Internal funding opportunities are available through MCW
  • Access to a broad range of technology for surgical cases and research, including multiple robotic platforms and navigation systems.
  • Enjoy strong interdisciplinary collaboration, including collaboration with anesthesia through the pre-anesthesia testing clinic and patient optimization clinic, infectious disease, rheumatology, plastic surgery and other essential collaborators for optimal care of the arthroplasty population.
  • Our total joint program currently consists of 6 teams (each team is composed of a physician and 1-2 APPs) practicing in academic and community settings who are skilled in hip and knee primary and revision arthroplasty reconstructive procedures for all indications, including custom-designed reconstructive implants.
  • Ability to perform same-day arthroplasty procedures in the hospital setting at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital and the new Menomonee Falls ASC Orthopaedic Center of Excellence.
  • Affiliated clinical sites include Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Froedtert West Bend Hospital, Children’s Wisconsin (CW), Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), and several ambulatory surgery centers in SE Wisconsin

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Fellowship training and board certification/board eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • State medical license and DEA registration
  • Strong clinical skills and commitment to evidence-based medicine
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
