Job Summary And Qualifications
Processes calls and pages; takes an active role in communication for codes, conditions and drills; monitors security and other alarms; and, performs clerical duties
- Answer and route all incoming calls promptly, courteously, and accurately.
- Provide information to callers or transfer calls to appropriate departments or staff.
- Place outgoing calls for hospital staff as requested, including long-distance and emergency calls.
- Monitor and respond to internal communication systems, including overhead paging, radio, and intercom.
- Initiate and coordinate hospital emergency codes (e.g., Code Blue, Code Red, Code Pink) according to established procedures.
- Remain calm and efficient during emergency situations, following all communication protocols precisely.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency call procedures and ensure accurate documentation of all events.
- Operate the hospital’s PBX or multi-line phone system, paging software, and related communication tools.
- Report any phone or paging system malfunctions to appropriate departments.
- Maintain logs of calls, messages, and system outages as required.
- High school diploma/GED
- 1 years PBX experience in acute care setting
