Job Summary And Qualifications
The Chaplain directs all activities involving chaplain contribution. You will work with all hospital departments and personnel to provide spiritual guidance and support during illness, injury and/or emergency to patients, family members, visitors, hospital staff, and physicians. Provides leadership and counseling to employees as requested. Formulates programs and policies to meet the spiritual needs of the organization. Employee will recognize the population specific needs of the patients and apply the appropriate knowledge ,skills and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient activities.
What You Will Do In This Role:
You will provide visitations and spiritual support to patients, family members, and employees.
You will collaborate and coordinate patient visits for area clergy.
You will participate on the hospital Ethics Committee.
You will provide crisis intervention where appropriate.
You will provide assistance with advanced directives and ethical issues of patients and families.
You will equally share afterhours call.
You will respond to interdisciplinary team referrals and work as an effective interdisciplinary team member.
You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
You will round on new admissions.
You will promote consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
You will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications.
You will engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient's experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
You will participate as an active member of the health care team and positively promote the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.
You will maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures.
You will use job knowledge and proficiency of skills to successfully assist in orientation of new employees.
You will share new knowledge with peers and mentor those with less experience.
You will attend and actively participate in unit meetings.
You will seek opportunities to impact the growth of the organization by promoting excellence in patient experience and providing high quality care to the patients served.
You will identify and assist with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas.
You will fulfill the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.
You will create and implement a personal career development plan, reviewed regularly by supervisor and/or preceptor.
You will demonstrate fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste of time and/or supplies, and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
You will perform other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's and Master's degree of Divinity from an accredited theological seminary, required
- Membership on American Association of Pastoral Counselors or Association of Clinical Pastoral Education ,required
- Healthcare endorsement from ordaining denomination, required
- 2 years ’experience in Pastoral care work, preferred
