Position Summary
Under direct/indirect supervision, enforce the law, provide service, information and aid to all citizens as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offenses and arrest offenders. Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of patients, staff, visitors and all property within the area under the control and jurisdiction of the Ector County Hospital District dba Medical Center Health System. Exercise independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Directors for the Ector County Hospital District and the Chief of Police departmental policies and procedures. In the absence of the Sergeant/Captain oversees day-to-day activities on a specific assigned shift. Demonstrates the ability to participate in team building, officer safety and support leadership.

Education And Certification
- High School graduate or equivalent required upon hire
- Texas Peace Officer Commission with Intermediate Certification
- Must have been employed for a minimum of two (2) years with police service at ECHD PD.
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
- Current Mental Health Peace Officer Certification required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- Must be able to qualify for Texas Motor Vehicle Insurance.
- Must be able to use computer, two-way radio, and telephone.
- Must be able to render credible testimony in a court of law.
- Must have leadership and supervisory skills along with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to perform
- Must have visual, auditory and olfactory acuity.
- Requires routine standing, walking and climbing.
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions with varying work hours and shifts.
- May be required to restrain patients
