Duties:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Clinical Medical Scribe to support our physician(s) in a fast-paced out patient medical practice.
The scribe will work directly alongside the provider to document patient encounters in real time within the electronic medical record (EMR) ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant documentation
This position is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare, pre-med, PA/NP school, or long-term clinical careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Document patient encounters in real time using EMR (eClinicalWorks experience preferred)
- Accurately record:
- History of Present Illness (HPI)
- Review of Systems (ROS)
- Physical exam findings
- Assessment and Plan
- Orders and procedures as directed by provider
- Prepare charts prior to patient visits (review labs, imaging, prior notes)
- Enter and track diagnostic orders, referrals, and prescriptions as directed
- Assist with completion of:
- Medicare Annual Wellness Visits
- Risk adjustment/HCC documentation (if applicable)
- Quality measures and screening tools
- Ensure documentation supports appropriate billing and coding
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Coordinate with medical assistants and front office staff to ensure smooth clinic flow
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior medical scribe or clinical experience preferred
- Strong typing speed (minimum 50–60 WPM preferred)
- Excellent grammar and medical terminology knowledge
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Comfortable working directly with patients and physicians
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Experience in outpatient practice
- Pre-med, pre-PA, pre-NP, or health sciences background
- Understanding of ICD-10, CPT coding basics (optional but helpful)
