Our client, a managed care organization in Los Angeles County, is seeking a Health Information Technician for a temporary assignment.
Location: Commerce, CA (On-site Only)
Job Type: Temporary, 6-8 weeks
Pay Rate: $23 – $26/hr BOE
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
What you'll need to Qualify!
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of current experience in medical records processing, including customer-facing roles
- At least 2 year of current experience navigating multiple healthcare record systems (EPIC experience highly preferred)
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in intermediate-level applications
- Knowledge of medical terminology at an intermediate level is required
Responsibilities
- Accurately index health information using the Four-Point-Check identity verification protocol
- Retrieve, scan, index, and validate patient medical records
- Develop, maintain, and operate health record indexes and retrieval systems
- File documents into electronic health record (EHR) systems daily
- Ensure medical records are up to date and available for physician review
- Respond to medical record requests from patients, providers, law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies
- Perform clerical functions such as record requests, image scanning, and quality auditing
- Monitor daily HIM Department workflow and assign tasks as needed
- Execute processes for the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Release of Information (ROI), escalating issues as appropriate
- Review and process incoming health information and update EHR pending orders related to HEDIS Quality Measures
- Review and resolve daily electronic laboratory interface failure reports
