What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contract CPR/First Aid Instructor position at Medic One Foundation?
The Foundation is seeking current or retired EMTs, Firefighters, or paramedics to help provide CPR/AED and First Aid training classes throughout King County on an as needed basis. This position is an independent contractor.
We want to clarify that this is an independent contractor role designed to provide high-quality CPR/AED and First Aid instruction to community members. This position is contract-based, 4–8 hours per week, depending on demand.
Please note that this role is distinct from our Medic One Paramedic Training Program or employment opportunities in fire service. This position does not serve as a pathway to those careers or programs within King County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct in-person CPR/AED/First Aid trainings for individuals and groups, including set up and break down of equipment.
- Transport equipment and supplies to and from the Foundation office (Bellevue) to training site.
- Complete the training completion records for each course taught.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Current or Retired EMT, Firefighter or Paramedic required.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Current AHA Heart Saver Certification (we will provide, if needed.)
- High School Diploma / GED required.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Must have a reliable source of transportation with capacity to carry training equipment.
- Pass a Washington State background check.
- Comfort and experience using audio-visual technology (laptop/PowerPoint/projector) for educational delivery.
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Be knowledgeable about the Medic One Foundation and its role in our region’s EMS system.
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including schools, community centers, hospitals, and corporate offices.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry training equipment, up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to demonstrate proper CPR and AED techniques.
- Work may be performed during evenings and weekends.
HOURS: Each training ranges between 4 to 6 hours. Most trainings take place during evenings and weekends. Schedule is flexible.
COMPENSATION: This is an independent contractor position. You will be compensated $200 per training CPR/First Aid Training (4 hour class-1.5 hours set up and travel). As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for reporting all income and tax payments to the IRS.
