The salary is $43,000 cell stipend. The Lowell Sun is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as the Home Delivery Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing delivery route efficiencies, ensuring performance standards are met, and driving operational excellence. You will oversee the management of contracts with independent delivery carriers and work to achieve sales and revenue growth while creating a best-in-class customer experience.
What You Will Do
- Execute and maintain new and existing contracts for an independently contracted carrier force (averaging 5 to 10 monthly)
- Monitor and ensure that contracted delivery drivers meet established performance and service standards
- Control operational expenses by managing and negotiating independent contractor rates
- Maintain and/or improve the efficiency of home delivery distribution routes and control expenses by closely monitoring carrier compensation, quality of delivery, route structure, and other miscellaneous factors
- Manage customer retention by evaluating service quality and resolving subscriber issues
- Enter system corrections for carrier and customer information
- Project a positive image in the presentation of customer service
- Expand circulation by getting more subs on routes using promotions
- Deliver down routes, as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and analyze spreadsheets, maps, contracts, and other key sources of information
- Outstanding accountability for problem-solving
- Capacity to work independently – with little supervision – but in a team environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Sales/customer service experience and dedication to achieve circulation goals
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, which will include early mornings and some weekends
