Summary:
The St. Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking an experienced and proactive Key Account Executive to join our team! We are transforming the news industry by connecting advertisers with high-value audiences through our award-winning content and multi-platform products, including web, mobile, social, and print.
Key Account Executives are members of a high performing, team-oriented Sales Team. In this role, you will focus on nurturing existing customer relationships and ensuring they invest in the right media solutions tailored to their unique needs. Your primary goal will be to develop new business, minimize customer churn, enhance customer satisfaction, drive upselling opportunities, and maintain consistent year-over-year growth in marketing investments.

What you will do:
  • Pioneer and execute aggressive prospecting strategies to acquire high-value new business across our complete digital and print product suite
  • Establish and nurture your personal book of digital and print business, consistently meeting and exceeding monthly and quarterly revenue targets
  • Understand client business goals inside and out; you'll provide strategic advice on comprehensive digital and print marketing solutions, clearly presenting the benefits of our audience-based strategies to address each client's unique needs
  • Expertly guide prospective clients through objections and concerns, demonstrating the value and effectiveness of our advertising solutions
  • Own the full sales lifecycle—from initial close to long-term success—by proactively monitoring campaign performance and leveraging data to secure renewals and upsell opportunities
  • Serve as a media expert by staying ahead of emerging trends in digital products, ad technology, and analytics to deliver truly cutting-edge solutions to clients
  • Provide weekly reports on account activity, pipeline, and revenue, with a focus on key categories and growth opportunities
What you will bring:
  • 3 years of successful, quota-exceeding sales experience in a highly accountable environment, preferably in advertising or media sales
  • A strong understanding of digital products and marketing trends, coupled with the ability to articulate how our diverse print solutions complement and enhance overall campaign effectiveness
  • Ability to understand client needs, research problems, and craft tailored, customer-based solutions that drive market share growth
  • Exceptional professional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to operate independently while driving results through internal cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent time management skills, allowing you to focus on high-impact sales activities, supported by strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint), and impeccable spelling and grammar
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly range is $28.20 - $30.76 commission, mileage reimbursement, and cell phone stipend (On-target earning potential $98,400 to $103,400). Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility). Conditions of Employment:
  • A full pre-employment background check and MVR will be conducted as part of the selection process. Must be willing to submit and pass the necessary required checks
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
  • Travel – This position entails occasional driving for work assignments, in-person training sessions and/or meetings. The employee will be responsible for transporting themselves between different sites as needed
