This position is part of the Strategic Research, Analysis, Communications and Exhibit Services (SRACES) contract supporting the Office of Strategic Analysis and Communications (OSAC) at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama. The selected candidate will work for Media Fusion, the prime contract company for the SRACES contract, primarily on-site at MSFC with some telework.
- Write, edit and coordinate review/approval of content for a variety of communications products across multiple communication disciplines and platforms, including digital, social, print, video, etc.
- Research and develop media outreach products for maximum impact and flexibility to be leveraged across multiple venues and platforms
- Collaborate to develop targeted media campaigns, background materials for media events, and other media relations products
- Research and develop creative content for a broad spectrum of customers and subject matter areas across the MSFC organization of science and engineering missions and research.
- Research and recommend innovative opportunities for media outreach
- Actively participate in and/or lead brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and develop clear, concise, and compelling communication products
- Communicate with organizations to obtain/provide information for communication materials that can be easily understood by a wide range of readers
- Develop written content and technical commentary for media
- Coordinate, share and participate on teams that share best practices across the NASA ecosystem
- Organize and support coordination for media events, including preparing spokespeople for media interactions
- Create and manage targeted media lists
- Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for management/customers
- May directly interface with OSAC management and/or OSAC customers
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or other appropriate area of specialization
- Three (3) years of directly related experience
- Story-telling and creative content expertise
- In-depth experience with MS Office Suite, especially Word
- Skilled in advanced oral and written communications, editing and advanced problem solving
- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to demonstrate subject matter authority and expertise
- Demonstrated ability to quickly communicate timelines, prioritize, maintain focus, delegate if necessary and deliver results in a timely manner when faced with numerous urgent tasks
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Able to work effectively as part of a diverse, distributed team
- Strong sense of initiative and inquisitiveness about the subject
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS *
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
