Network Administrator

Location: Medfield Public Schools Technology Department
Position Summary
The Network Administrator maintains network and infrastructure hardware system operations for the Medfield Public Schools technology network environment. This role ensures the District's systems perform at maximum levels while adhering to industry standards. You will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and management of network operations to ensure systems are secure, updated, and always running.
Core Responsibilities
1. Network Infrastructure & Systems Management
Operations: Manage and maintain Medfield Public Schools network systems, including switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi, to ensure 24/7 availability and peak performance.
Deployment: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch all network hardware to maintain security and infrastructure integrity.
Resilience: Maintain current backups of all on-premise network equipment and data-dependent systems.
Documentation: Create, analyze, and update technical documentation for network infrastructure, licensing, and system modifications.
2. Specialized Technical Administration
Platform Management: Oversee Google Workspace for Education, MDM (Mobile Device Management) for student/staff devices, Student web filtering, AP cloud management and Cloud Printing solutions.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related hardware and software problems in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Lifecycle Planning: Research and recommend hardware/software upgrades and migrations to keep the District at the forefront of educational technology.
3. Tier 2 Technical Support & Escalation
Advanced Support: Serve as the primary Tier 2 support for Tier 1 technicians, providing high-level technical expertise to resolve complex hardware and software issues.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related problems escalated by the field team in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Collaboration: Work directly on trouble tickets to provide excellent customer service and provide the necessary support to ensure Field Technicians can successfully complete their tasks.
Team Communication: Manage overall technical notifications to field technicians and the team to keep them informed of system changes, fixes, and scheduled updates.
4. Support & Communication
Customer Service: Supporting Field Technicians in the resolution of complex issues.
Notifications: Manage technical notifications to the field team regarding changes, fixes, and scheduled updates.
Professional Growth: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of network support and technology by attending relevant training and workshops.
Professionalism: Effectively communicate technical information to staff in a positive and approachable manner.
Key Requirements & Expectations
Attention to Detail: Focus on the precise deployment of products and system configurations.
Off-Hours Flexibility: Schedule product updates and maintenance during off-hours to prevent instructional disruption.
Adaptability: Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the evolving needs of the District.
Qualifications
Proven experience in managing enterprise-level network hardware (Switches, Firewalls, Wireless).
Expertise in Google Management, MDM platforms, and Cloud Printing.
Strong background in application patching and infrastructure security.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across IT disciplines.
Salary : $80,000 - $85,000
