GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An experienced Field Engineer handles the coordination and completion of assigned projects for
construction jobs. The candidate must have a strong work ethic, a professional demeanor and
a good overall knowledge of many construction types to assist in the day-to-day construction
operations for Federal Government projects. Field Engineer will assist with field operations and
provide administrative support for all aspects of the project including direct communication with
owners, contractors, architects, designers, etc., concerning daily work activities, staffing and
scheduling. You must display excellent customer service skills, including solid communication and
interpersonal abilities and the ability to interact in a positive way with a wide variety of different
types of clients, subcontractors, fellow employees, management and office personnel while providing
outstanding service.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Control:
o Assist Superintendent and PM with project QC plan development and implementation.
o Ensure that all submittals are completed in accordance with the project documents.
o Create, maintain, and update Deficiency List, Discrepancy List and Punch List.
o Assist in communicating project changes and their implementation.
o Follow through on material delivery. Review the products delivered to the site to
ensure that they match the approved submittals.
o Provide support to track and review all project testing.
o Maintain a clean and safe physical environment.
Project Scheduling:
o Provide back sight to superintendent. Give input and double check milestone schedule.
o Make sure that the team member handling the schedule understands long lead items
and make sure the actual needed dates are entered into the log.
o Communicate milestones to the project team to invoke a sense of urgency.
o Manage flow of information in order to feed the field (i.e., timely return of submittals,
RFI's etc.).
o Assist with creation and distribution of four (4) week look ahead schedules.
Field Operations
Assist Superintendent and PM with daily operational activities in the field, including
material receipt and delivery coordination.
Assist with inspections or reporting requirements as needed, especially as relates to
quantity tracking.
Provide assistance with hardened concrete testing, as needed.
Provide additional labor support on occasion, including field work and/or heavy
equipment operations.
Perform any other duties as may be requested to support the work in the field.

Staff Development and Mentoring:
o Take the initiative to develop at least one "Mentor" relationship with a Superintendent
or Project Manager in an effort to assist you in your career.
o Actively recruit PE's, OE's, FE's and Interns in an effort to populate the Company roster
with quality employees.
o Work with direct reports to establish their annual goals.
o Encourage a fun and safe working environment. Keep morale up.
o Conduct annual performance review to direct reports and hold accountable.
o Trust, but verify, performance of project team.
Safety:
o Ensure compliance with Tribal One, OSHA and Client safety requirements for all
stakeholders.
o Support and attend employee, subcontractor and vendor safety orientations.
o Review AHAs and ensure that the AHA's are in the file for use at the Pre-Construction
Conference.
o Participate in Safety Inspections.
o Assist Project Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer to ensure project personnel
are adequately trained and accountable in the following: Accident Prevention Plan,
Activity Hazard Analyses and ensuring an overall safe jobsite.
Customer Satisfactions:
o Run project professionally and efficiently.
o Actively communicate with the Owner and Designers.
o Prepare the CE's and CO's in a professional and consistent manner.
o Return phone calls and emails within 24 hours. Hold project team accountable for doing
the same.
o Make sure work is completed when you say it will; do what you say you will do.
Physical Requirements (as required by OSHA and ADA):
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
• Comfortable working in various environments, including heights, confined spaces and outdoor
settings.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps.
• Can access roofs, crawl spaces and all construction areas.
• Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling, walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery,
or erratically moving surfaces.
• Must be able to occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and is frequently required to walk.
• Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to
adjust focus.
• May require working in various weather conditions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
o Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in construction project as office engineer, project
engineer or another related field.
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or another related field
o Familiar with construction project practices/procedures and have working knowledge of
field activities.
o Ability to lead and work with others.
o Ability to monitor/enforce jobsite safety – OSHA 30 is required.
o Strong troubleshooting, math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Detailed oriented.
o Strong documentation and reporting skills.
o Professional appearance and demeanor.
o Possess a passion for construction, including having a desire and natural instinct to build
and a team-oriented attitude.
o Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
o Available to travel outside local area when required.
o Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
o Federal government contracting or employment experience is required.
o Must currently process and maintain a valid driver's license.
o Must pass and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
o Must pass a government background security check and be able to obtain and maintain
federal installation security access badges and security clearances.
o Must be able to function as a responsible team member.
o Must exhibit excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
